To me, giving up 1000's of HP and making hitting your skeleton quality threshold more difficult isn't worth it even if skeleton level is only reduced by 15%, as you'd be looking at most a 6% increase in skeleton level (if the reduction is only 15%) and at worst a 12.5% reduction in skeleton level if it's getting the double penalty like quality is. We are unsure if level gets reduced by 15% or 30%. We know that quality gets reduced by 30%. There's also the fact that the Ancestral Crypt bonus of +3 HP per soul is actually quite useful and there's absolutely no downside to using Crypt on necro. You can find necklaces without quality that have +4-5 or higher (depending on loop level) skeleton level, but as soon as they also roll quality that plummets to <1 skeleton level always. Also, as I'm sure you've noticed, skeleton quality seems to be an "expensive" stat, that is to say, any piece of gear that has quality always gets a huge penalty to skeleton level, so if you are using 3 pieces of gear with quality on it you will necessarily have a lower skeleton level because of it. With Crypt, this means only 2 items that need quality, whereas you need at least 3 with Arsenal. And while skeleton quality is the least important stat, you still want around 50% at least as the upgraded skeletons are quite good. I mean, it may very well reduce skeleton level by 30% too, it would require more testing. Dont know how you get past the hounds on boss 3 with max skellies because they shredded me over and over until I beefed up the skeletons and dropped their number(or swapped to high enough quality to have a tank out always.) I doubt you're building a tanky necro so it must just be luck, as I don't see any method for how enemies selec targets. Talents probably matter a lot but without splitting damage with skellies or a way to mitigate eventually the necro will be the target and he will take the hits. Not sure how you're not taking damage unless you are running high quality because I def still get hit, and I was having pretty poor talent luck until this last run with crypt. I died to him twice where he was under 30% life(no grove) and I just died because he will slowly chip you away without regen and I did not have the heal on skeleton death talent nor did I get talents for stacking anything. I eventually changed from 8 skellies to 4-5 with 50%+ quality and could kill him consistently, but attack speed + 8 skellies was not working on the hounds as they take 3 hits and go invuln and kill my necro.Ĥth boss was just a slog, and I had no regen so he would slowly chip me down. I was getting crit for over 900 on loop 10. Those crits hit for a lot even on low loops. I'm unsure if +skeleton level is also being double dip reduced as the range of values possible there is a lot higher so it's more difficult to test, but either way, you shouldn't be using Arsenal on necro-Ancestral Crypt is the way to go.īoss 3, the Hunter would get shredded in 5 seconds, but the dogs would stay in aura and every single time they attacked out of aura it's an autocrit and they always attacked my necro. I did some extensive testing on quality since it has relatively small variance, and found that the quality reduction double dips on skeleton quality, presumably to makeup for +max skeletons not being reduced. In order to compensate for the fact that +max skeletons can't be reduced, skeleton quality will receive a 30% reduction on all gear. It's impossible for gear to roll a fractional +skeleton value, which might make you think that Arsenal is even stronger on the class because +max skeletons will never be reduced, but there's a problem. 85 = 4.25 total quality, which is bigger than 4.īut Necro is special. Normally, Arsenal reduces the quality of your gear by 15%, and on a class like rogue this is a net positive as 5 *. So Arsenal has a unique interaction with the necro which makes it especially bad to use.
